    *F-1 transfers are students who are attending another institution inside the U.S and eligible to transfer their I-20; Online-only applicants are those who intend to take online classes from abroad and do not require an F-1 visa.  

    **Orientation schedule may vary by campus and will be communicated to admitted students once confirmed.

    If applying more than 6 months in advance, please allow up to 3 weeks for review. You will receive an email notification when an update to your admission status becomes available. You may also login to the admission portal anytime to view updates or submit additional items to complete your application. All application materials must be received by the deadline listed in the chart above to be eligible for admission.
     

    Online class enrollment policy for F1 students: 

    Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) has ended its Coronavirus guidance regarding online class enrollment starting Fall term 2023-24

    • Students must register in on-campus/in-person classes beginning Fall quarter of the 2023-24 academic year. 
    • You will only be allowed to count a maximum of one online class toward the mandatory full course load of study (12 units). 
    • Failure to comply will result in the termination of your F-1 status.

    If you are a F-1 visa student at another college in the U.S. seeking to concurrently enroll at either De Anza or Foothill College, please review each college's instructions before continuing:

    A non-refundable $75.00 USD application fee is required at the time you submit your application.   

    Deferral Policy:
    Applicants or admitted students to Foothill or De Anza College may request to defer their application up to one calendar year from their original application term (up to three deferral requests within one year). After this period, students still wishing to defer will be required to submit a new application and will be subject to the $75 application fee again.

    Note that this policy does not apply for conditionally admitted students. Students holding conditional admission may be deferred beyond one calendar year if necessary to complete their English language studies and receive full admission.

    Policy on Switching Campuses:
    Applicants can select only one campus on the application and should review this selection carefully before submitting the application. Applicants to either Foothill or De Anza College who wish to change their application or admission to the other campus should contact the original campus to withdraw their application. They must then submit a new application to the desired campus and may be subject to the $75 application fee again.

    Transfer-in Students:
    Transfer-in students must begin classes at the start of the following open term or within five months, whichever comes first, unless they take a permitted break or vacation during that term.

    Transfer-out Policy:
    If you are admitted and enter the U.S. on a Foothill or De Anza College I-20, you are required to enroll in and complete at least 1 term of study (full time - 12 units minimum) before requesting a transfer of your I-20 to a new institution.
